Sports Update- 8th grade Soccer in Final

8th Grade Soccer

Duchesne battled their way to the Conference Final game thanks to a dream start and a huge midfield and defensive effort from the team.  Within 2 minutes, Drewe Molin had opened the scoring with a 25 yard lob over the keeper, then she doubled the lead before 5 minutes were up.  Receiving a pass on the edge of the box, she turned and shot low inside the near post.  As Presbyterian battled back, Duchesne's centre midfield of Elise Viguet and Anna Witte held firm, winning their tackles, and maintained the lead until half time.

Shortly after the break, Duchesne had a penalty appeal turned down during an early attack, but it was the defence that worked the hardest during the second half.  Melissa Caldera used her speed to clear any fast breaks, and in goal Rebecca Fogarty showed great shot stopping and catching from crosses and corners.  Anna Bahme nearly added to the lead after beating the goalie to a ball near the end, but the two early goals proved to be enough to send the girls to the Conference Final this Thursday.
